Taha Shah Badussha opened up about his evolving understanding of mental health, offering a deeply introspective perspective during a recent interaction. Reflecting on his personal journey, he said, “Over the past year or so, I’ve learned something significant about life: for me, the concept of mental health has essentially split into two distinct realms. There is the conventional aspect of mental health—the kind you read about, or the physical side encapsulated by the adage, "A strong body makes for a strong mind." All of that is valuable, of course. But then there is another, deeper psychological dimension—one that many people haven't taken the time to sit down and work on; indeed, I hadn't done so myself until recently. This is what is known as "Shadow Work." Within that realm lie a multitude of things—emotions and experiences—that you have kept suppressed deep inside. Once you venture into that space—once you open that door—you begin to realize a great many things about life itself. At that point, you need to start reading and seeking out mentors or "gurus" who can guide you. Because navigating your way through that particular side of your psyche is by no means an easy task.”
“The conventional side, however, is relatively straightforward: you can simply study, socialize with people, and maintain good mental health. But when you are alone—that is when you have to face what you might call your "inner demons." That is the real challenge, and that is where true mental well-being lies” added Taha.
Expanding further on the growing relevance of wellness, Taha added, “Wellness has become a massive phenomenon—it has gained immense importance in our country and across the globe—largely because, as you know, so many people are completely buried in their mobile phones. They aren't engaging their minds; they aren't looking outward; they aren't truly observing the world or experiencing life as it unfolds. So, I believe these therapies serve as a means—how shall I put it?—to address the sheer amount of negativity we have allowed to accumulate in our minds. While they may not instantly transform that negativity into positivity, they provide you with a pathway—a channel. If you choose to invest your time, your energy, and your thoughts into this process, it works automatically. It’s like a virtuous cycle: you take a specific action, and that action, in turn, automatically contributes to your mental well-being.”
The actor’s reflections come at a time when conversations around mental health and self-awareness are becoming increasingly mainstream, especially within the entertainment industry. Taha’s emphasis on “shadow work” introduces a more introspective dimension to the discussion, encouraging individuals to confront suppressed emotions and unresolved experiences rather than avoiding them.
On the professional front, Taha Shah continues to build on the momentum of his breakthrough performance in Heeramandi The Diamond Bazaar. He also shared an update about his upcoming project, saying, “I feel very blessed that Amazon recently launched a series titled Nezuikiyaan in collaboration with Karan Johar's Dharmatic Entertainment. I am truly privileged to be a part of this project. God willing, it will be released very soon.”
The upcoming series, widely referred to as Nazdeekiyan, is backed by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment and is described as a full-circle journey for the actor. As Taha balances introspection with career growth, his words reflect a deeper shift toward mindful living—both on and off screen.
